Senegal Health Minister Fired After Babies Die In Hospital Fire

Senegal Health Minister, Abdoulaye Diouf Sarr Senegal President Macky Sall has sacked his Health Minister, Abdoulaye Diouf Sarr, after 11 babies were killed by a fire in a hospital on Wednesday. Mr Sarr will be replaced by Marie Khemesse Ngom Ndiaye, the ministry's director general, following the tragedy in Tivaouane city. The blaze, which rapidly engulfed the newborn unit at the Tivaouane hospital, is being blamed on an electrical short circuit. Eleven newborn babies have died in a hospital fire in the western city of Tivaouane in Senegal, the country's president has said. The fire at Mame Abdou Aziz Sy Dabakh Hospital was in the maternity department, President Macky Sall tweeted. Initial reports suggest the fire was caused by a short circuit, according to Senegalese politicians. Three babies were saved from the fire, said the city's mayor, Demba Diop Sy. Senegal and Chelsea FC goalkeeper Edouard Mendy on Saturday became the first African goalkeeper to win the UEFA Champions League. The goaltender who was in goal for Chelsea FC as they defeated Manchester City to clinch their second UCL trophy was full of joy after the game. Kai Havertz scored the decisive goal just before half-time, running on to Mason Mount’s excellent ball before knocking it past Ederson and then rolling into the empty net. Senegal has crashed out of the World Cup after losing 0:1 to Colombia. Senegal was Africa's last representative in the tournament which means no African side made it out of the groups. World Cup: Senegal Draws 2:2 with Japan

Senegal has drawn 2:2 with Japan in their second group match. The Senegalese opened scoring in the 11th minute through a Sadio Mane tap in. 23 minutes later, The Japanese leveled up the score through Takashi Inui ending the first half in a 1:1 draw. In the second half, Senegal took the lead in the 71st minute through Moussa Wague. However, the Japanese equalized through Keisuke Honda in the 78th minute. The match ended in a 2:2 draw, giving Senegal 4 points from two matches and Japan 1 point from two matches. Senegal will now take on Colombia on the 28th while Japan will take on Poland at the same time.

Senegal defeated Poland by 2:1 to give Africa its first win in the on-going 2018 FIFA World Cup. Senegal's first goal was put down as an own goal after a Polish defender deflected a Senegalese shot into his own net. In the 60th minute, Niang, coming back into the pitch having gone out following an injury, latched unto a defensive error to give Senegal her second goal.
