Nigeria: Get Obasanjo Arrested, He Doesn’t Mean Well for the Country – Miyetti-Allah

In a letter dated July 15, Obasanjo asked the president to take decisive action on insecurity, saying the situation could degenerate into a full-blown crisis if not tackled appropriately. Obasanjo said rather than “hammer” the farmer-herder crisis, the impression is that the government of Buhari is treating it with kid gloves. Reacting to this letter in an interview with PUNCH, Alhassan Saleh, national secretary of Miyetti Alla Hore, asked Obasanjo to offer any information he has in order to solve the security crisis. “The fact that there is insecurity, I don’t think the Fulani are responsible for it. The narrative that we are responsible for the insecurity is even the problem we have with the Nigerian state,” he said. “When any crime happens, even before there is an investigat...

Nowhere was the word exaggerated used Our attention has been drawn to misleading reports in a section of the media purportedly made by and attributed to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, on the security situation in Nigeria, in New York.  For the purpose of clarity, and the records it is pertinent to state that Prof. Osinbajo was entirely misquoted and his words taken out of context in the said media reports especially those that quoted him as saying that "Kidnapping in Nigeria is exaggerated and not entirely new"  Nowhere in the Vice President's remarks at the townhall meeting with the Nigerian community did he use the word "exaggerated," not even by implication.  His remarks about the social media being hysterical was a general response to comments made by participants at th...

Opinion: Crisis and the Visibility of PMB by Dr. Aliyu U. Tilde

When King Edward VIII abdicated the British throne and his brother, Albert, took over as King George VI in 1937, it dawned on the new King and his wife, Princess Elizabeth Lyon, that his stammer would impede his role as a King, a position that will require him to communicate directly with his subjects whenever the need arises. She sought for him the services of Leonel Logue, whose lessons immensely improved the speech condition of the initially reluctant student. The need arose two years later in 1939 when Britain joined World War II under Winston Churchill (another stammarer) and the King needed to speak to the public. His therapy was handy because he was able to deliver his proclamation speech without the impossible hindrances of before. The British public was happy to listen to their...
