The minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed has dismissed claims that he has COVID-19. According to a statement released by his special adviser, the minister is hale and hearty as against reports making the rounds. The statement reads: The attention of the office of the Honourable Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has been drawn to a report making the rounds that he has contracted the Covid-19 virus and that he is now in isolation, where he is receiving treatment. For the record, the Minister does not have Covid-19, hence he is neither in isolation nor receiving treatment anywhere. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has confirmed the handover of Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED) students arrested by the Nigerian Army, Newspremises reports. The officers of the 12 Field Engineering Regiment in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, took the 20 suspected internet fraudsters to EFCC Ibadan zonal command, where they handed them to the officials. The suspects were arrested during a raid conducted by the Nigerian Army at Ijagun, Odogbolu area of Ogun state. The Abia State High Court has fixed November 2 for the hearing of fundamental rights suit filed by the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu. Nnamdi Kanu’s lawyer, Aloy Ejimakor, made this known in a press statement titled, ‘Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s Fundamental Rights suit to be heard on 2nd November, 2021’, on Thursday. The lawyer had, on August 27, 2021, filed the case, demanding that the Federal Government return the secessionist to Kenya where he was “abducted”. He also demanded N5 billion from the government over alleged gross violation of Kanu’s fundamental rights. Mr Uba emerged as the APC’s candidate at a primary election held on June 26, 2021. George Moghalu, an aspirant in the APC primary election, is challenging the process and the outcome of the primary election.
