Ondo 2020: Akeredolu Wins Governorship Election

  Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of the All Progressives Congress has won the Ondo governorship election held on Saturday. Mr Akeredolu, won in 15 of the state’s 18 local government areas while Eyitayo Jegede, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) won in the remaining three local governments based on the results announced by the electoral commission, INEC, at its headquarters in Abuja. The incumbent deputy governor in the state and candidate of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), Agboola Ajayi, came a distant third by scoring 69,127 votes.

Ondo Decides: Akeredolu Tops as INEC Declares Results from 15 LGAs

Candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has maintained the lead in the Ondo State governorship election as results from 15 out of 18 Local Governments are announced. This is according to results announced by the electoral umpire, Independent National Electoral Commission at its collation centre in Akure. Candidate of the APC, Akeredolu won in 12 LGAs while Eyitayo Jegede of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), polled the highest votes in three LGAs. The candidate of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), and Deputy governor of the state, is yet to win any LGA. Ondo Election: Governor AKeredolu Leads After INEC Declared Results From 12 Local Governments

Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of the All Progressive Congress (APC), has garnered the most votes cast in the Ondo State governorship election after Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared results from 12 local government areas collation centres. The incumbent governor leads his main opponent, Eyitayo Jegede of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP with a margin of above 81,000 votes. The candidate of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP),  Agboola Ajayi, occupies the third spot. Results declared so far shows that Akeredolu who is seeking a second third in office so far has 189,489 votes while Jegede has 108,195 votes in the election.

Ondo2020: INEC to Adopt No-face-mask-no-voting  

The Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 has directed the electoral umpire, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to enforce no-face-mask-no-voting rule in the Saturday governorship election in Ondo State. The PTF National Coordinator, Dr Sani Aliyu said this during a media briefing in Abuja on Thursday. Aliyu expressed the determination of the taskforce to ensure that elections are conducted under safe environment. He said that Ondo state boasts of over 1.5 million prospective voters in 3,000 polling units which makes the election a huge exercise which would also come with its risk.
