Arson: INEC Set to Meet Security Chiefs As 21 Offices Are Razed

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, is set to meet heads of security agencies this week as part of efforts to forestall the rising attacks on its offices in some part of the country. Reports say the meeting with security agencies will be held after a meeting of the resident electoral commissioners of the electoral umpire on Wednesday. This was disclosed by a top official of the commission in the wake of the hiked spate of attacks on INEC’s office which has risen to 21 on Sunday night with the recent attack on the Enugu State headquarters of the commission, Punch reports. The headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in Enugu has been set ablaze on Sunday night with some vehicles razed. This comes barely 48 hours after an office of the commission in Udenu Local Government Area went up in flames. Reports say the arsonists numbering about seven stormed the commission situated near Enugu State Broadcasting Service at Independence Layout in a Mini-Bus and ignited fire to six Hilux vehicles, five of which were completely razed.
