Yoruba Monarchs Move to Resolve Tinubu/ Aregbesola Rift

Some Yoruba leaders, including traditional rulers, yesterday, began a move to resolve the conflict between the National Leader of All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and former governor of Osun State and Minister for Interior, Rauf Aregbesola. Former Governor of the State of Osun and Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, on Thursday, said his successor, Adegboyega Oyetola, waged war against him after he became governor. Aregbesola spoke in Ikire while addressing a rally held to garner support for his anointed candidate in Saturday’s Osun governorship primary of the All Progressives Congress, Moshood Adeoti. Nyesom Wike, governor of Rivers, has accused the All Progressives Congressive (APC) of trying to “penetrate the leadership” of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Wike said this on Wednesday after a closed-door meeting with party stakeholders in Plateau state. INEC Releases Calendar For Campaigns Over 2023 Presidential, Guber Elections

The National Independent Electoral Commission, INEC – have released calendar and political itinerary in 2022 in Nigeria. The calendar is consists of political activities bordering the 2023 presidential and gubernatorial elections in the country. Continued delay in the assent to the Electoral Act (2010) amendment bill may affect the adoption of the new amendments for the 2023 general elections, the Independent National Electoral Commission has said. The commission said though it operates based on existing legal regime, it was important to have the law that would guide the elections in place at least 12 to 18 months before the exercise.
