2023 Election: Buhari Says He’ll Only Support APC Candidates

President Muhammadu Buhari has said he will only back the candidates of his party, the All Progressive Congress (APC) during the 2023 presidential election. He also advised candidates outside the party that are seeking his support would be left on their own. Buhari said in a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, that anyone making controversial and derogatory comments in the hope of giving other opposition parties an advantage against the candidates of the ruling party would be disciplined accordingly. The Independent National Electoral Committee, INEC, has debunked speculations that it has ditched the electronic transmission of results for the manual collation of results for the 2023 general election. INEC Will Collate 2023 Election Results Manually – Okoye

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has said that the results of the 2023 general elections will be collated manually despite the introduction of electronic transmission of results. According to Festus Okoye, INEC National Commissioner and Chairman of Information and Voter Education Committee, the commission would still transmit results from polling units to its result-viewing portal, IRev, as seen in recent polls but the Electoral Act has provision for the method of collation.
