ASUU Warns of Fresh Crisis Over ‘No Work No Pay’, Seeks Intervention

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, on Monday alerted Nigerians that if the Federal Government does not pay their withheld salaries, a fresh crisis will break out in the nation’s universities. The union asked parties of interest and well-meaning Nigerians to pressure the Federal Government into paying the withheld eight-month salaries of its members across the country. The alarm was raised by Prof. Moyosore Ajao, the University of Ilorin ASUU Chairman at a special congress of the branch that took place at the university’s main auditorium on Monday. FG Extends Resumption Of Kaduna-Abuja Train Services

The Ministry of Transportation in Kaduna on Sunday announced the extension of the resumption date for the Kaduna-Abuja train service. Recall that the train service was halted in March 2022 after terrorists attacked its passengers. About 25 passengers were killed, several others sustained injury and more than 50 were kidnapped during the attack. Police Nab Two in Possession Of 468 PVCs

The police have nabbed two individuals in possession of 468 Permanent Voter Cards, PVCs. This was contained in a statement by the Independent National Electoral Commission’s National Commissioner, Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye, on Sunday. Okoye said one of the suspects identified as Nasiru Idris, was caught with 101 PVCs in Sokoto State and another whose name was not disclosed was found with 367 PVCs in Kano State. The statement said that the act was a breach of Sections 117 and 145 of the Electoral Act 2022. According to the statement, the offenders were presently receiving their due punishment. The National Centre for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons, NCCSALW, has disclosed that more than 3,000 illegal arms were recovered across Nigeria in the past 18 months. This was stated by the national coordinator of the centre, Abba Dikko, in Kaduna on Wednesday.
