World Population Day: Lagos Lawmaker Seeks Government Intervention on Population Control

A member, Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Gbolahan Yishawu representing Eti-Osa constituency 02 on Thursday seek government intervention to control Nigeria's increased population. Yishawu made this known in a statement issued in commemoration of the 2019 World Population Day. It would be recalled that the World Population Day is observed annually on July 11. Yishawu who is the ad-hoc Committee Chairman on Budget and Economic Planning maintained that government must look for ways to control over population and address problems associated with it. Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu has reiterated his administration's commitment to partner with Netherlands on health, Education, technology, trade, tourism and infrastructure. Sanwo-Olu Visits Ijegun Fire Survivors, Warns Pipeline Vandals

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Wednesday visited victims of the recent Ijegun pipeline fire incident who are receiving treatment at the Trauma and Burns Unit of the Gbagada General Hospital. The Governor, in company of his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, sympathised with families of the victims and also appraised recuperation of the survivors. He took time to go round the three wards where some of the victims were receiving treatment for various degrees of injuries. Among the survivors are three children and four adults. The Managing Director of the Lagos Bus Services Limited (LBSL), Mr. Idowu Oguntona has charged the newly trained Civil Service Staff Bus Drivers to obeyed all traffic rules in the state Oguntona, who gave the advice at the closing ceremony of the training programme for the Civil Service Bus Drivers at the LBSL Depot at Ilupeju, said that they are ambassadors of the State Government through which the commercial and private bus drivers will measure the present administration in terms of compliance with traffic laws. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Friday, constituted a visitation Panel with a task to investigate all contentious issues that are setting the staff union against the management of Lagos State Polytechnic. Saying any member of the school breaching the peace in the school would be dealt with accounting to the law. He disclosed this in a statement signed by Gboyega Akosile, Deputy Chief Press Secretary.
