Former Nigerian Minister, Martins-Kuye, Is Dead

A former Minister of State for Finance and Minister of Commerce and Industry, Senator Jubril Martins-Kuye, is died. He died on Sunday morning in his hometown, Ago-Iwoye, in Ogun State. The late politician was born in August 1942 in Ago Iwoye, Ijebu constituency of the state. He studied sociology at the University of Ibadan, Oyo State (1965-1968) and then Economics at the Harvard University Business School, graduating in 1983. He was also a Chartered Accountant. Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, is mourning the death of his Chief of Protocol, Tosin Ogunbodede. A 100 level student of Osun State University, Ikire campus Juba Orisajafor on Tuesday drank poison and died few hours he preached against suicide on his WhatsApp status. It was gathered that Orisajafor on Tuesday morning around updated his WhatsApp status, condemning suicide. His post on WhatsApp reads: “Often time I ask myself, Why do people commit suicide? The United Nations (UN) cautions that Africa and the rest of the world could witness a “generational catastrophe” due to the closure of schools around the world amid the COVID-19 scare. This was disclosed by U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in a communique. Reports suggest as at mid-July, at least 160 countries had closed their schools keeping more than 1 billion students at home while at least 40 million children have missed out on pre-school. Kigali, Rwanda, July 27, 2020 – Gahaya Links, in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation’s COVID-19 Recovery and Resilience Program, has provided 40,000 vulnerable families in their artisan network with face masks, which will help them prevent the spread of COVID-19 while enabling them to safely engage in income generating activity.
