Lagos House of Assembly Constitutes Committee to Screen Commissioners, Special Adviser nominees

The Lagos State House of Assembly on Monday constituted a 16-man ad-hoc committee to screen Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s nominees for commissioner and special advisers. The Speaker, Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, who read the list of the members of the committee said Hon. Rotimi Abiru, a fourth-term lawmaker, representing Somolu Constituency II would be the head of the ad-hoc committee. Other members of the screening committee are: Hon. Jimi Mohammed (Ikeja I), Hon. Yinka Ogundimu (Agege II), Hon. Abiodun Tobun (Epe I), Setonji David (Badagry II), Hon. Victor Akande (Ojo I) and Hon. Sanwo-Olu Transmits 25 names of Commissioners, Special Advisers to State Assembly for Screening

In fulfilment of his election promise to accelerate his administration’s development agenda, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Sunday, transmitted a list of Commissioner-designates to the House of Assembly for ratification. The list contained twenty five names, who are to assume duty as Commissioners and Special Advisers upon ratification by the legislature. Following the recommendation of the National Judicial Council that Justice Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad be confirmed as the substantive Chief Justice of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari has accepted the nomination and forwarded same to the Senate for confirmation. The NJC had made this recommendation on Wednesday and the President's acceptance was confirmed by the Senate President who presented Tanko's name to the house for confirmation.
