Shun Politicians With Children Abroad – ASUU President

Professor Emmanuel Osodeke, the President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has called on Nigerian students to shun politicians who enrol their children in universities abroad. Osodeke made the call during a Twitter Space Webinar, organised by Premium Times, tagged, ‘ASUU strike, Revitalisation Fund and the Way Forward.’ Proffering a lasting solution to the incessant strike by the union, Osodeke said students should not vote for politicians who would not stand on the side of the people. Strike To Continue As ASUU, FG Meeting Ends In Deadlock

The meeting between the Federal Government and the striking Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, yesterday ended in a deadlock as both parties were not able to reach an agreement. ASUU had met with Professor Brigg’s renegotiation committee with a view to finding a solution to the lingering labour dispute which has resulted in the closure of the country’s universities for over six months. The meeting which took place at the National Universities Commission, NUC, headquarters, Abuja, ended without n agreement being reached. ASUU Strike: Hope At Last As FG, ASUU Resolve IPPIS, UTAS Dispute

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has confirmed that the dispute over the payment platform involving the Integrated Payroll and Persona Information System, IPPIS, and the University Transparency and Accountability Solution, UTAS, has been handled. The issue of payment platform has been one of the major contending issues between the FG and the university lecturers. However, ASUU President, Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke, in an interview with Channels Television on Monday raised hope that the strike by the union may soon be called off if things go well during a meeting today (Tuesday). NUC: Teachers Still Yet to Enjoy the N30,000 Minimum Wage

Teachers across 15 states are yet to enjoy the N30,000 minimum wage increase since President Muhammadu Buhari signed the National Minimum Wage Act into law. The Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) says teachers in states such as Abia, Bayelsa, Delta, Enugu, Nasarawa, Adamawa, Gombe, Niger, Borno, Sokoto, Anambra, Imo, Benue, Taraba, and Zamfara are yet to enjoy the agreed minimum wage even after the third year of the Act being passed into law. The West African Examinations Council, WAEC, has announced the release of the 2022 West African Senior School Certificate Examination for school candidates. Mr Patrick Areghan, the Head of Nigeria Office, WAEC, announced this on Monday at the WAEC office, Yaba. He said, “The results are being uploaded on the results website.
