WAEC Discloses SSSCE Results Release Date, See When

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced that the results of the 2020 Senior Secondary Certificate Examinations will be released next week. Students sat for the West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination between August 17, 2020 and Saturday, September 12 2020 after the Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu had granted permission to schools to resume prior to the examinations. It came after schools across the federation were shut down in March to curb the spread of COVID-19. The results were schedule to be released today, 45 days after the examination but the council said the delay was due to violence which affected some of its offices and impacted on its nationwide operation. ASUU Reveals When Strike Will be Called Off

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has said it is ready to call off its ongoing strike as soon as the Federal Government conducts an integrity test on the proposed payroll system, University Transparency and Accountability Solution (UTAS). ASUU said that its members are ready to return to the classroom once government shows commitment to implementing contentious issues. The National Examination Council (NECO) has announced the postponement of the ongoing Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination indefinitely. Most public and private schools in Oyo state have suspended academic activities as at Tuesday morning, African News Today observed. Although there has not been any official by the State Government over the closing of schools, most private schools said the decision was taken as a result of the hardship students experienced by students due to the #EndSARS protest in major parts of the state on Monday. NECO Reschedules Exam Due to #EndSARS Blockade  

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has announced postponement of the Paper 1 Computer Studies Practical scheduled to take play on today due to blockade occasioned by the persistent #EndSARS protest. The examination body said the paper has now be rescheduled to take place on November 16. The President Muhammadu Buhari administration has agreed to release N30 billion to pay earned academic allowance to lecturers of universities. The allowance will be paid in tranches between May 2021 and February 2022.   The Federal Government on Thursday announced the re-opening of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camps across the country. The Minister of Youths and Sports, Sunday Dare made the announcement via Twitter adding that the orientation camps are scheduled for reopening on November 10. “The Resumption of the NYSC Orientation Camp for prospective Youth Corpers has been approved and opens on November 10th, 2020.
