Obaseki, Shuaibu Inaugurated For Second Term

Edo State governor, Godwin Obaseki, and his deputy, Philip Shaibu, were on Thursday inaugurated for a second term in office. The ceremony was held at Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City, the state capital. The Oath of Office was administered by Chief Judge of the state, Justice Esther Edigin. Dignitaries in attendance include governors of the Peoples Democratic Party like Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State, Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, Duoye Diri of Bayelsa State, Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State; among others. Governor Obaseki won the gubernatorial elections under the platform of the PDP.

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has postponed the 2020 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for private candidates in Nigeria due to circumstances beyond their control. Head of Public Affairs, WAEC Nigeria, Mr Demianus Ojijeogu, who made this known in a statement, said the examination commences by Monday, November 30, 2020. The Oyo State COVID-19 Task Force has issued a directive to the management of workplaces, schools, and religious centres to ensure strict compliance with the COVID-19 protocols to curtail the spread of the disease. Again, WAEC Extends Registration for WASSCE Private Candidates

The West African Examination Council (WAEC) has further extended registration for its 2020 West African Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination for private candidates. The council disclosed the extension via its official Twitter handle, @waecnigeria on Friday. WAEC explained that the new registration deadline is Friday, November 13, 2020. The tweet reads: "WASSCE FOR PRIVATE CANDIDATES, 2020 - SECOND SERIES: FURTHER EXTENSION OF REGISTRATION PERIOD Intending candidates should note that there has been a further extension of the registration period to Friday, November 13, 2020." WAEC had earlier extended the deadline for registration to October 23 before the latest extension.

Following the vandalisation and looting of its office on October 24 as a fallout of the nationwide #EndSARS protest, the West African Examination Council, WAEC, has announced the relocation of its branch office in Calabar, Cross River state, to Uyo, Akwa Ibom state. WAEC Releases Results, Withholds Results of 215,149 Candidates

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) on Monday released the 2020 SSCE results. It also disclosed that it has withheld the results of 215, 149 candidates who wrote the 2020 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) in Nigeria. The council said the results of the candidates are being withheld in connection with various reported cases of examination malpractice. The West African Examinations Council has disclosed that the results of the 2020 Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination would be released on Monday, November 2, 2020. While giving an update on Sunday, WAEC tweeted, “This is to inform candidates that sat West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for School Candidates, 2020 that the results of that exam will be released by @waecnigeria tomorrow, Monday, November 2, 2020 by 10:30am.”

Kaduna State governor, Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai has said that his son, Abubakar El-Rufai is still schooling at a public school in the state. The governor made the clarification on Thursday on his verified Twitter handle when a user identified as @sarmerdk2 sought to know if his son was still schooling at a public school and his current grade.
