Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has announced the sack of the Vice-Chancellor of the Ladoke Atintola University of Technology, LAUTECH, Ogbomoso, Professor M.O. Ologunde. The decision was conveyed in a letter issued by the Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology, Olasunkanmi Olaleye, on Friday. It is reported to be informed y the dissolution of the joint ownership of the institution by Oyo and Osun states. John Mrabure, the acting Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Correctional Service, has disclosed that at least 15 convicts are in line to be conferred with bachelor’s degrees in different academic disciplines while another inmate has defended his PhD thesis. He said it is a testament that Nigeria prisons reform inmates and debunked claims that convicts become more hardened criminals after they had been released from prison. The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has shifted the commencement of registration exercise for the 2021 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination and Direct Entry earlier scheduled to begin on Thursday, April 8. The West African Examinations Council, WAEC, has announced the release of private candidates’ results for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination, WASSCE, 2021-First Series. Speaking at the press briefing, Patrick Areghan, the Head of the Nigeria Office of WAEC said Nigeria is not ready for the 2021 WASSCE. Areghan said, "It will be calamitous to offer the exam to students in the first term; as we all know, the schools are running different terms. The management of Adamawa State Polytechnic, Yola has announced the indefinite closure of the institution after final-year students went berserk. The irate students destroyed the institution’s 500-seater lecture theatre, burnt the Students’ Union Government building and also destroyed the Students’ Union’s president’s vehicle. According to the News Agency of Nigeria, no life was lost during the incident but the police have arrested some of the students.
