Outrage As Atiku Deletes Tweet Condemning Killing Of Sokoto College Student

The student, identified as Deborah Samuel, was said to have been attacked by a mob over comments considered to be an insult to Prophet Mohammed. ASUU The Federal Government and the Nigeria Inter-Religious Council on Thursday failed to convince the striking Academic Staff Union of Universities to call off their industrial action during a meeting called by the Chief of Staff to the President, Prof Agboola Gambari, and the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige. UPDATED: ASUU Extends Strike By 12 Weeks

The Academic Staff Union of Universities has rolled over its ongoing strike for another 12 weeks. A statement signed by ASUU president, Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke, said this was to give the government enough time to satisfactorily resolve all the outstanding issues. Also on Wednesday, students from different tertiary institutions in the Edo State protested the lingering ASUU strike in Benin, the state capital.
