Breaking News: Rochas Okorocha and Wife Arrested by EFCC Operatives

Barely 24 hours after vacating office as the governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha and his wife have both been arrested by men of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. Officers from the commission raided the former governor's house and effected the arrest. Reports have it that men from the commission have also sealed the former governor's university at Ogboko, Eastern Palm University. During his handover, Rochas had made some statements that indicated he might be aware of some plans to arrest him. He had warned that any attempt to silence him will see him fighting back. We shall provide more information as we receive them.

An alleged disappearance of over $64 million from the vaults of the Zenith Bank has landed the multinational financial services provider in trouble. Zenith bank is rated as a large financial service provider in Nigeria and Anglophone West Africa. As at the ending of 2016, her total assets was N4.7 trillion with shareholders’ equity of N616.3 billion. She is listed on the Nigeria Stock Exchange and the London Stock Exchange. Nigeria: LASTMA Officer Shot Dead By Suspected F-SARS Officer

An official of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, identified as Rotimi Adeyemo, was shot dead in the Iyana-Ipaja area of Alimosho Local Government Area of the state on Wednesday. PUNCH Metro gathered that Adeyemo, while controlling traffic at the Iyana-Ipaja roundabout, stopped a motorist, who was alleged to be an operative of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad, for violating a traffic rule, but the motorist, who was apparently annoyed by the action of the LASTMA official, allegedly brought out a gun from his vehicle and shot the official dead. I am taken aback by the line of defence proffered by Minister of Communications, Barrister Adebayo Shittu for skipping National Youth Service. Is the man kidding Nigerians? I have heard the man speak on various occasions and consider him intelligent. I however consider his reason for deliberately skipping the National Youth Service as one of the most silly and unreasonable arguments I've ever heard from a lawyer. His argument is said to be that having been elected into the Oyo State House of Assembly at age 26, after law school, he felt that was "National service"! Senator Dino Melaye has been reportedly abducted by unknown gunmen on his way to Kogi. Information reaching us has it that the the Senator was on his way to Kogi to appear in court over charges of allegedly aiding criminals and attempted suicide. He was billed to appear in court today (Thursday 26th July) but was ambushed and abducted along the Abuja-Lokoja Highway on his way to answer the charges. Reacting to the letter again sent to him by the Police this night, inviting him to appear by 8am tomorrow (24th July 2018), Senate President, Bukola Saraki has said among other things that the concoctions and evil plots will not deter him. In a statement released on his Facebook page, he noted that the Police had corrupted and politicized their investigations into the Offa robbery incident. He said "They have turned it into an instrument for the party in power to suppress perceived opponents, witch hunt issue for blackmailing people from freely choosing which platform on which they want to pursue their ambitions and a matter for harassing the people whose exit from APC would harm the chances of the party in the forthcoming elections."
