We’ll Partner with EFCC to Recover Looted Funds in Kwara: AbdulRazaq

.... Laments diversion of N2bn SME funds Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on Tuesday said his administration would partner with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to combat graft, including recovering funds looted from the state treasury. AbdulRazaq said corruption had almost crippled Kwara when he took over on May 29, lamenting how the N2bn the state accessed to boost small scale businesses was diverted and shared by some persons. According to the Governor, this meant that the state government would now have N35m deducted from its account every month. “I got a letter (last week) from the Federal Ministry of Finance saying they will now deduct N35m every month from our account because the state government, a few years ago, took N2bn for small and mediu...

Nigeria: Ministership for Sale – Up to N2.5b Per Slot, by Farooq Kperogi

except for a few ministerial nominations, every other post was literally auctioned off to the highest bidder. I declined to comment on the ministerial list Buhari sent to the Senate for two reasons: I was deeply distraught by what I heard about the process that produced it and I wanted to confirm the info from trustworthy people who should know.  Four different, dependable, and independent sources who don’t know each other but who’re close to the corridors of power were eerily united in telling me that except for a few ministerial nominations (notably those of Adamu Adamu, Ali Isa Pantami, Mohammed Musa Bello, Raji Fashola whom Buhari himself personally penciled— and those that were conceded to Tinubu) every other post was literally auctioned off to the highest bidder. One Jeddy...

Saying  dancing exude happiness and joy than imposing sorrows, untold hardship by looting public treasury. He said this in a statement personally signed by him in response to a statement credited to the State governor that he felt ridiculed contesting against Adeleke in 2018 gubernatorial election. According to Senator Adeleke, there is nothing wrong in dancing especially when praising God, our creator but everything is wrong with the exploitation of the weak and underprivileged. Nigeria: Pension Fund Administrators Exploiting Pensioners

Nigerian workers have been faced with different challenges over the years. All of these challenges hinge around government's insensitivity to their plight. We have heard stories of pensioners not receiving their pensions and we have even heard of those that collapse and even die while waiting to be paid. Given all of these, Nigerian workers thought their woes were over with the introduction of PFAs which allowed their funds to be managed by independent organizations. This appears not to be the case. While we've learnt that the Federal Government for about the past two years has not been remitting to the PFAs the deductions they make from the salaries of their employees not to mention the contributions they are supposed to make, we've also learnt that the PFA's themselves have been se...

The Federal Government, on Thursday, closed its case against the suspended Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, Justice Walter Onnoghen, after it produced only three witnesses that testified before the Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT. Though FG initially expressed its intention to produce a total of six witnesses to substantiate all the allegations it levelled against the embattled CJN, however, shortly after the third witness was discharged, the prosecution counsel told the tribunal that it would be unnecessary to call further witnesses. The prosecution counsel, Mr. Aliyu Umar, SAN, told the tribunal that the defendant was at liberty to summon any of the listed but uncalled witnesses to testify on his behalf if he so wished. He was immediately overruled by the CCT Chairman, Mr. Danladi U...

Opinion: How the 2019 Presidential Election in Nigeria was Massively Rigged – Femi Aribisala.

“You will know the truth and the truth will set you free.” (John 8:32). In the 2015 presidential election, Muhammadu Buhari of the APC was awarded 15,424,921 votes by Attahiru Jega’s INEC; while Goodluck Jonathan of the PDP was awarded 12,853,162 votes. In that election, Buhari presided like a colossus over the North, which was stoked up to insist on a Northern presidency. Bola Tinubu presided over the South-west, in coalition with Buhari; while President Goodluck Jonathan prevailed in the South-south as its native-son. Suppression of South-eastern votes However, the South-eastern states were regarded as orphans, they had no real godfather. As a result, APC succeeded essentially through INEC suppression of the votes of the South-east; and the exaggeration of the votes of the North;...
