Kidnapped Anambra Commissioner Ezewanne released — Police

The Anambra Commissioner for Public Utilities, Mr Emeka Ezenwanne, who was kidnapped on March 31, has been released, the state Police command has confirmed. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalled that Ezenwanne was kidnapped by some gunmen, after a gun battle that led to the death of three police personnel. The kidnappers had invaded the venue of an interactive session between an All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) governorship aspirant, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, and youths at Isuofia civic centre. BREAKING: Afenifere Spokesman, Yinka Odumakin, is Dead

The National Publicity Secretary of the pan-Yoruba group, Afenifere, Yinka Odumakin is dead. According to a report by The Punch, he died at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital after a brief illness. His wife, Mrs Joe Okei-Odumakin, confirmed this to newsmen on Saturday. The Afenifere spokesman died at LASUTH Covid Isolation Centre. Married to a fellow rights activist, Joe, in 1997, Odumakin’s voice was heard through the dark years of military despotism. Midnight Fire razes Popular Ibadan Auto Parts Market

Popular Araromi auto spare parts market in Agodi-Gate, Ibadan has been razed by a midnight fire. The areas most affected are the tyre and car engine sections of the market. The fire, which is still being battled by a combined team of firefighters and some traders, has led to the loss of goods valued at hundreds of millions. The fire was said to have started around 11 pm around the tyre section and spread to other parts of the nearby shops where trailer engines were sold. Sources said the fire was caused by a power surge, which was escalated by nylon used to wrap tyres. BREAKING: NAF fighter Jet loses Radar Contact in Borno, Whereabouts Unknown

A Nigerian Air Force Alpha Jet involved in the anti-terror war against Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province has lost radar contact in Borno State. NAF spokesman, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, in a statement on Thursday, said the incident happened on Wednesday evening. The statement was titled, ‘Nigerian Air Force Alpha-Jet Loses Radar Contact’. Gabkwet said though the whereabouts of the attack jet was unknown as of the time of filing this report, search and rescue efforts were ongoing. Gunmen abduct Female Students in Kaduna

Suspected bandits have abducted unspecified number of female students of The Federal College of Forestry Mechanisation in Mando area of Kaduna State. Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mohammed Jalige confirmed the incident. He said the exact number of students abducted is unknown. “They were abducted last night, we have no details of the number of students,” ASP Jalige said. He said the Police was working with the Army to trace the kidnappers and rescue the students.
