Open Letter to the Sultan of Sokoto, Abubakar Sa’ad and the Fulani Leaders by Oodua Group

The Sultan of Sokoto and Fulani Leader His Eminence Alhaji Abubakar Sa’ad THE STATE OF THE NATION We write this letter to you considering your importance as the head of the Fulani people in Nigeria. You are also the head of Fulani Muslims in Nigeria. It is our hope that you will be able to share the thoughts expressed here with the 7 million Fulani people in Nigeria through your traditional means of communication. We write to honour you with this letter, given the floundering opportunities for a dialogue on the future of Nigeria, which has eluded the various ethnic groups in Nigeria and which may not enhance itself too soon. Given the drumbeats of armed violence and extremism perpetrated largely by your people, and the fleeting prospects of a national dialogue, we hope this lett...

Opinion: A Word for Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah – Fani-Kayode

“If it is Fulani today, yesterday it was the Igbos”- Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah. I have immense respect for Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah but to compare the situation of the Fulani in the south today to the situation of the Igbo in the north in 1966 is disingenuous and intellectually dishonest. The Igbo did not slaughter the Fulani in the 1966 northern pogroms but rather it was the Fulani that slaughtered the Igbo. In 1966 alone no less than 100,000 innocent and defenceless Igbos were butchered by the Fulani and other northerners in the north. Today it is again the Fulani that are slaughtering thousands of Igbo, Yoruba and other southerners all over the south. They are also killing Middle Belters. The south and the Middle Belt do not have a tradition of killing the innocent and the d...

DNA test is a deoxyribonucleic acid that contains the genetic code and information of every single individual on earth. His words, “I will offer free legal advice to Atiku live on air in the hope that they will use it because it is obvious Atiku won the election and APC are deploying all instruments of coercion at the disposal of the Nigerian state to deny him his mandate. “Between Atiku and the man o...

Biafra: Justice Binta Orders the Arrest of Nnamdi Kanu, Trial for Treason Charges to Continue

Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday ordered the arrest of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, and directed that his trial on charges of treasonable felony should proceed in his absence. The judge, whose decision was anchored on the provisions of Section 352(4) of the Administrative of Criminal Justice Act, 2015, said Kanu had failed to appear in court since April 25, 2017 without any reasonable explanation. The lead prosecuting counsel, Mr. Magaji Labaran, applied for the court’s orders earlier in the Thursday’s proceedings. Kanu’s lawyer, Mr. Ifeanyi Ejiofor, had opposed Labaran’s oral application, and had asked to be given more time to explain why his client had not been in court by filing all necessary papers. He insiste...

Nigeria: Kaduna State Commissioner Calls Prof. Okechukwu Ibeanu of INEC a Biafra Apologist

A commissioner commissioner of Women Affairs & Social Development in Kaduna State, Hafsat M Baba, has referred to Prof. Okechukwu Ibeanu as a Biafra-apologist. In a tweet that has sparked off outrage from Nigerians, she said "The unsung hero, in this very anticlimactic turn of events, is our dear Amina Zakari. She was bullied out of the logistics position in INEC and replaced by a male, Biafra-apologist Prof. Okechukwu Ibeanu. She has been vindicated, one of our very own Arewa Sheroes." In her tweet, she had been commenting on the agitation for the removal of Amina Zakari. Supporting her position, another Twitter user with the handle @TweetKhalifa said "It wasn't bigotry/sexism when they were fighting Amina Zakari tooth and nails. It is now, that @HafsatMohBaba decided to turn i...

Nigeria: IPOB Insists on Boycotting the 2019 General Elections

The leadership of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has insisted that its position on boycotting the 2019 elections has not changed. In a statement credited to Mazi Alphonsus Uche Okafor-Mefor, the deputy leader of the group, the group said "Forget all the noise, disregard all self-destructive, nocturnal activities and conducts of baby opportunists whose stock in trade is treachery in Biafra land. Truth is that we have made up our minds, crossed boundaries and calibrated territories and guess what ? We have firmly established ourselves both in minds and presence of friends and foes. We, therefore, make bold to state with every ounce of certainty and beyond every conceivable equivocation that nobody can question the wisdom in "boycotting the fraudulent election" of the zoo ca...

Biafra: South-East Massively Complies with IPOB’s Sit-At-Home Order

Many major cities in the South-East were almost ghost towns today as there was a massive compliance with IPOB's sit-at-home order. Major roads, markets and motor parks were deserted. Commercial operations were non existent. Even the usually busy Niger bridge was deserted as no vehicular or human traffic was visible. IPOB claims that the order received 70% compliance while the Police in Anambra claims otherwise. In Anambra the order was totally complied with in Onitsha and Nkpor. However, Awka, Nnewi and some other rural communities had some activities, with banks offering minimal services. Security operatives were seen at major points, ready to intervene if there was a break down of law and order. Speaking on the success of the protest, Emma Powerful, IPOB's Media and Public...
