Nigeria’s lower legislative chamber, the House of Representatives has issued a warrant of arrest for the Acting Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Kemebradikumo Daniel Pondei for staging a walk-out during a house committee hearing on the mismanagement of funds in the commission. The lawmakers ordered the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu to immediately effect his arrest. Pondei had led the Interim Management Committee (IMC) of the NDDC in a walk-out from the investigative panel when it appeared for the resumption of hearing on the affairs of the commission. The Nigeria Police Force has debunked reports of detaining Ibrahim Magu, ousted Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. This was contained in a letter written to Tosin Ojaomo, counsel to Magu, by DCP Idowu Owohunwa, Principal Staff Officer to the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, in reply to Magu’s bail application. Bayelsa Election: Supreme Court Upholds Governor Duoye Diri’s Candidacy

Nigeria’s apex court has upheld the candidacy of Duoye Diri as the legitimate candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the November 2019 primary election in Bayelsa state. Timi Alaibe, his rival at the elction, had approached the court challenging his candidacy in the election but the supreme court threw out the petition. Diri’s candidacy had been upheld by the Federal High court and the Court of Appeal but Alaibe took the case to the supreme court seeking to reclaim his stake as the legitimate candidate of the ruling party in oil rich, Bayelsa state. President Muhammadu Buhari has today, Tuesday 14 July, 2020 appointed the boards of Nigeria Liquified Natural Gas (NLNG) and Bonny Gas Transport Limited (BGT). It was made known in a statement by Timipre Sylva, Minister for Petroleum Resources. President Buhari appointed Edmund Daukoru as the NLNG board chairman.
