World Cup: Ighalo Tips Morocco To Shock Portugal

Odion Ighalo, former Super Eagles striker, has tipped Morocco to shock Portugal when they meet in the quarter-finals of the FIFA World Cup in Qatar on Saturday. Morocco turned out as the second African team after the Super Eagles of Nigeria to beat Spain at the World Cup after they emerged victorious over the 2018 winner on penalties. Morocco beat the European giant 3-0 on spot kicks after a barren draw. The North African side is the fourth African team to reach the quarter-final of the World Cup. Each of the previous teams to have reached this stage did not progress further, with Cameroon (1990), Senegal (2002), and Ghana (2010) being knocked out in agonizing circumstances. Louis van Gaal, Netherlands coach, has described Morocco star, Hakim Ziyech as an exceptional player who contributes hugely to his team’s success. Ziyech who has been on impressive form for Morocco at the World Cup, has played a key role as his team booked their place in the last eight against Portugal after beating Spain on penalties. Customs Seize 2,375 Litres Of Petrol, Generate Over N127m In Sokoto

The Nigerian Customs Service, NCS, Kebbi State Command, has seized not less than 2,375 litres of Petroleum Motor Spirit popularly known as petrol loaded in jerricans. The command in its November review stated that smuggled 303 bales and 94 sacks of second-hand clothing, and 58 bags of foreign parboiled rice of 50kg each; among other items with a duty paid value of 46,706,795,00 were intercepted by its operatives. Comptroller Joseph Attah, the Customs Area Controller stated this on Thursday while displaying the seized items by the Command in the month of November. He said that the command made more than N127 million in revenue during the period of review. NRC Increases Fares On Lagos-Ibadan Train Service Over Diesel Cost

The Nigeria Railway Corporation, NRC, has disclosed that the fares for Lagos-Ibadan and Lagos-Abeokuta train have been reviewed upwards. Recall that the NRC had in August announced a reduction in the number of trips on the Lagos-Ibadan route due to an increase in the cost of diesel. In a memo issued by the NRC, the train services for the Lagos-Ibadan route were hiked. Chukwunonye Irouno, the Labour Party candidate for Okigwe Local Government Area of Imo State has died. The deceased who was a popular master of ceremony in Owerri and the Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs and Entertainment to a former governor of the State, Rochas Okorocha, passed on late on Monday in his Owerri residence. 507 Lagos Doctors Migrate To UK In Two Years – NMA

The Lagos chapter of the Nigerian Medical Association, NMA, has disclosed that 507 medical doctors practicing in the state relocated to the United Kingdom in less than two years due to poor working conditions in Nigeria. Dr. Benjamin Olowojebutu, the association’s Chairman stated this while interacting with Punch Health Wise. He urged the Federal and State governments to tackle the menace of brain drain in the country’s health sector. The NMA Chairman said that brain drain has become a serious threat in Nigeria noting that medicine may go into extinction in the country if the menace is not promptly addressed as an emergency.
