Naira Redesign To Affect SMEs, Poor Households – W’Bank

The World Bank has cautioned that the newly redesigned naira notes may have a negative impact on economic activity in the country, especially on poor Nigerians and small-scale businesses. Gunmen have set ablaze the magistrate court in Owerri, Imo State capital on Sunday afternoon. Reports say that no life was lost in the incident. The incident could not be confirmed by the Imo police spokesperson, Michael Abattam, as he did not respond to calls and messages when contacted. NAF Rescues Seven Chinese After Six Months In Captivity

The Nigerian Air Force Special Forces under the 271 Detachment in Birnin Gwari, Kaduna State has freed seven Chinese workers abducted by suspected Bandits in Niger State. The Chinese expatriates were abducted in June while working at a mining site. This was contained in a statement issued by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Nigerian Air Force, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, on Saturday, noting that they were freed after a search-and-rescue mission by operatives. A cleric, Abduljabbar Nasiru-Kabara, has been found guilty of blasphemy by a Kano Upper Shari’a court. He was charged over alleged blasphemous comments against Prophet Muhammad. The charges were brought against him by the government of Kano State. According to prosecution counsel, Suraj Sa’eda, the defendant committed the offence on August 10, October 25 and December 20, 2019. Officers of the Nigeria Police Force in Ogun State have nabbed a 49-year-old man, identified as Ganiyu Shina, for allegedly bathing with blood at a community river in Kotopo, Odeda Local Government Area of the State. Second Niger Bridge To be Opened For 30 Days

The Federal Government has directed the opening of the Second Niger Bridge for use during the yuletide to ear traffic in the South-East region. The bridge was formerly opened in the late hours of Thursday. The Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, who issued the directive on Wednesday at the inauguration of the bridge, stated that it will be opened for a period of one month during the festive period. Fashola said that the bride will be shut down to traffic on January 15, 2023.
