YABATECH: ASUP Quits from Part-Time Programmes Over Shortfall in Wages

The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic (ASUP), Yaba College of Technology (Yabatech), on Monday disengaged from all the part-time programmes in the college following the shortfall in the payment of wages and allowances to its members. Mr Nureni Yekini, Chairman ASUP disclosed the union decision to newsmen at the end of the union’s congress in Lagos. He said that all services had been suspended till further notice. He explained that the congress reached the decision following various complaints from members over shortfall in payment of wages and allowances by the management of the college. The Lagos State government taskforce on Tuesday commenced the demolition of shanties along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway after the expiration of 7-days ultimatum issued to the traders.
