Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) deployed at 192 Battalion Foward Operations Base (FOB) have inflicted heavy casualty on Boko Haram(BH) and Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists in an ambush in Pulka general area. It was an Intelligence driven operation that was conducted with precision in conjunction with members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) and local vigilantes. The operation left four of the criminal elements neutralized and a good number of arms recovered. The fierce encounter occured in Rengye, an area suspected to be the terrorists' crossing point. The leader of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has been brought to court by officials of the Department of State Security (DSS) for his trial. Kanu was brought into the courtroom amid heavy security around 9:50am. Kanu’s brother, Prince Meme Kanu confirmed the IPOB’s leaders presence via a Facebook post on Wednesday morning. The Anambra governorship election has been declared inconclusive by INEC. The State Returning Officer for the election, Florence Obi, the vice-chancellor of University of Calabar, who made the declaration in the early hours of Monday, around 12:20 a.m., said this was because there was no election in Ihiala Local Government Area which has over 148,000 registered voters. The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has called on the federal government to increase its feeding allowance for corps members. Shuaibu Ibrahim, NYSC’s director-general (DG), spoke when he appeared before a house of representatives committee on youth development on Wednesday. Ibrahim said the extant N650 daily feeding allowance for corps members is “grossly inadequate,” adding that with the arrangement, they only get a meal worth N216. The NYSC DG called on the committee to raise the scheme’s feeding allocation in the 2022 budget. The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Charles Soludo, has defeated his main contenders in their local government area. Mr. Soludo won Andy Uba of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Valentine Ozigbo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Aguata LGA, the three top contenders’ native council. Mr. Soludo, Uba, and Ozigbo had won in their respective polling units in Isuofia, Uga, and Amesi town in Aguata. The Independent National Electoral Commission says it will upload election results from the 5,634 polling units to its result-viewing portal in today’s governorship poll in Anambra State. It however said collation of results would be done manually as obtained in previous elections and not with the uploaded results.
