Protest Rocks Ondo As Unknown Gunmen Kill High Chief

Some youths in Owo Kingdom in the Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State on Wednesday night staged a protest over the killing of a high chief in the community, Tunde Ilori Elerewe, by unknown gunmen. Newsmen gathered that Elerewe was murdered in the community while returning from where he and some other chiefs had gone to settle a dispute on the order of the Olowo Of Owo, Oba Ajibade Ogunoye. Another chief whose name was not revealed was also shot by the gunmen and is currently receiving treatment at a health facility in the town. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arrested five members of a syndicate who specialise in counterfeiting foreign currencies, especially the dollar, for sale to unsuspecting members of the public. Acting on intelligence, the commission, in a joint operation with operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, arrested four members of the syndicate on December 8, 2021, at Swiss Pearl Continental Hotel, Koforidua Street, in the Wuse 2 area of Abuja with fake $427,400. Femi Fani-Kayode Docked Over ‘Forgery Of Medical Report’

Former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode has been docked before Justice O. Abike-Fadipe of Lagos State Special Offences Court, Ikeja for alleged forgery. Fani-Kayode was charged before the court by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on a 12-count charge bordering on fraudulent use of false documents. According to the prosecution, Femi Fani-Kayode on October 11, 2021, in Lagos fraudulent representation procured one Dr Ogieva Oziegbe to execute a document titled: “MEDICAL REPORT ON Olufemi Fani Kayode 60 YEARS/MALE/HOSP. NO.00345” and purported same to have been issued by Kubwa General Hospital. With effect from Tuesday, Dec. 14, the Federal Government will restrict airlines coming from Canada, United Kingdom and Saudi Arabia into Nigeria. Minister of Aviation, Capt. Hadi Sirika, announced the decision on Sunday in Lagos and explained that it was to reciprocate restricted flights from Nigeria into those countries over the new COVID-19 variant, Omicron.
