BREAKING: Kidnapped Kankara Students Freed

The Katsina State Government on Thursday night at about 9pm announced the release of the 333 boys of Government Science Secondary School, Kankara who were abducted when bandits invaded the School on Friday December 11, 2020. A statement from the Secretary to Government of Katsina State, Mustapha Mohammed Inuwa confirming the release of the boys said they are being transported to the Government House for presentation to the Governor.

Doctors Suspend Strike in Zamfara

Zamfara State chapter of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) has suspended its one week strike it embarked on to protest poor remuneration. The Chairman, Dr. Mannir Bature, announced the suspension in a statement in Gusau on Tuesday. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the NMA on December 10 directed its members to embark on a one-week strike. “I write to inform the public that the NMA has suspended the one-week strike it embarked upon last Thursday,’’ Bature said. CJN Tests Positive for COVID-19

The Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Tanko Muhammad has tested positive for COVID-19. The CJN is presently in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, receiving treatment. A member of the Supreme Court, Justice Ibrahim Saulawa disclosed this at the unveiling of the national headquarters of the Muslim Lawyers’ Association of Nigeria (MULAN) on Tuesday in Abuja. Justice Muhammad was absent at the swearing – in of 72 new Senior Advocates of Nigeria on Monday. FG in Talks To Secure Omah Lay, Tems’ Release in Uganda

The Federal Government on Monday disclosed that efforts are being made to get detained Nigerian singers, Omah Lay and Tems, freed in Uganda, says the Chairman of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa. Both singers were arrested by the Uganda Police Force for flouting COVID-19 guidelines. They were arrested after their performances at The Big Brunch, which held at Speke Resort, Wavamunno Rd, Kampala, Uganda. Dabiri-Erewa made  this known in a tweet on Monday. “#FreeOmahLay #FreeTems . The Nigerian mission in Uganda is doing everything to get them freed. Minister @GeoffreyOnyeama has also been on the matter. @nidcom_gov is also in touch with their Lawyers,” she tweeted.

26 Army Generals Test Positive as 417 Undergo COVID-19 Test

The Nigerian Army has disclosed that twenty six Army Generals and other senior officers have tested positive for COVID-19. Four hundred and seventeen are undergoing COVID-19 test after the General Officer Commanding 6 Division Major General Johnson Olu Irefin, died from COVID-19 complications during the annual Chief of Army Staff Conference in Abuja. Acting Director Army Public Relations Brigadier General Sagir Musa, in a statement disclosed that they now have, a total of 26 confirmed cases after 417 personnel were tested.
