Nigerian entertainer, Habeeb Okikiola, better known by his stage name Portable, found himself in a precarious situation on Tuesday as he attempted to evade arrest by the operatives of the Lagos State Police Command. The incident unfolded when officers arrived to apprehend him following a complaint filed by a car dealer over an unsettled debt.
Portable had engaged in the purchase of a N27 million G-Wagon from the dealer, making an initial payment and promising to clear the remaining amount at a later date. However, the transaction soured when Portable allegedly failed to fulfill his payment obligations.
In a widely circulated video capturing the dramatic arrest, Portable, dressed in a white and black striped shirt, was seen engaging in a seemingly convivial conversation with the officers who had come to detain him. As the officers presented him with a warrant of arrest, Portable appeared cooperative, saying, “No problem, no problem Oga mi,” as he paced around.

However, in a sudden turn of events, Portable swiftly scaled a nearby gate and attempted to flee. Despite his efforts, he was swiftly apprehended by four police operatives and bundled into a waiting vehicle.
Confirming the arrest, Benjamin Hundeyin, the Police Public Relations Officer for the state, revealed the reason behind Portable’s apprehension. “Yes, Portable has been arrested. He bought a G-Wagon for N27 million, paid N13 million, and refused to pay the rest, claiming the vehicle was defective. We arrested him today,” Hundeyin stated.
This is not the first time Portable has found himself on the wrong side of the law. In 2023, he faced legal troubles after being arrested and arraigned on charges of assault against a former signee. Despite police requests for his surrender, Portable remained elusive until he was eventually picked up at his residence in Ota.
Portable, whose fame soared with his hit single “Zazoo Zehh” featuring rapper Olamide in 2021, has become known for his controversial exploits both on and off the stage.
