The female students of Olabisi Onabanjo University, OOU, who were kidnapped in front of their hostel in Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State, have been released by the gunmen.
The students were freed on Tuesday night but it could not be ascertained if any ransom was paid to secure their release.
The abductees among whom are Adeyemo Precious and Oyefule Abiola, studying Forestry and Wildlife Management and Agricultural Economics at the Ayetoro Campus of OOU, were abducted on Sunday night.
The aftermath of their abduction had prompted the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), to threaten the closure of all tertiary institutions in the state.
It prompted the state Governor, Dapo Abiodun to order security operatives to rescue the students unhurt.
Their release was confirmed by the Police Public Relations Officer in the State, Abimbola Oyeyemi but did not go into details.
He said they would be reunited with their families, DailyTrust reports.
