The Federal University Oye Ekiti has appointed Foluso Ogunmodede as the institution’s public relations officer.
Ogunmodede, who was until the appointment the Chief Information Officer to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abayomi Fasina, replaced the erstwhile PRO, Yinka Ademuyiwa.
A statement from FUOYE on Sunday titled, ‘FUOYE gets new PRO,’ stated that the appointment was effective from September 1.
Ogunmodede, a seasoned journalist, worked with The Comet, The Nation and The Compass newspapers and lately New Telegraph where he resigned as Deputy Editor (News) on April 1, 2021, to join FUOYE.
The statement said that his appointment was contained in a letter dated 1st September 2021 and signed by the university’s Acting Registrar, Mr Mufutau Ibrahim.
The letter read, “I am pleased to convey to you the approval of the VC, Prof. Fasina, to appoint you as the university PRO with effect from 1st September 2021 and until further notice.
“As the university PRO, you will be responsible to the VC in handling the underlisted duties among others: building strong connections with government’s agencies and other universities; managing public relations with regards to planning, coordinating and executing public relations activities and events at the university to promote a positive image.”
Other responsibilities, according to the letter, included “writing and distributing news releases, announcing important university information and managing every event on and off campus activities; and arranging media sessions with professionals/journalists as the need arises.”
