Deji Adeyanju, human rights activist, has called out singer Azeez Fashola popularly known as Naira Marley describing him as a coward for calling off planned End SARS protest that was billed to take place on Wednesday.
Naira Marley today announced cancellation of the protest after persuasion from government and the Nigerian Police Force. The cancellation was announced after the Minister of Youths, Sunday Dare urged the musician to call off the protest, promising that the government is taking actions to address the issue.
In his reaction, Adeyanju said in a tweet on Tuesday that the singer acted like a coward.
He added that Nigerians were not ready to challenge bad governance adding that when the masses are ready, everyone will willingly take to the street without being persuaded.
He said, “Naira Marley, the coward cancels EndSARS Lagos protest. Not surprised at all. Only Nigerians can save themselves.
“Nigerians are not yet ready. When we are ready, we won’t need anyone to tell us to come out.
“It will happen suddenly, unannounced.”
