Nollywood actor, Olanrewaju James popularly known as Baba Ijesha has been sentenced to 16 years in prison for sexually assaulting a 14-year-old.
Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences convicted the actor in a two-hour court judgement on Thursday.
Baba Ijesha was convicted on the charges of attempted sexual assault, sexual assault by penetration, and molestation of the minor.
But the defendant was only prosecuted for counts one and six, which were sexual assault by penetration and attempted sexual assault as the trial failed to find him guilty of all the charges against him.
Taiwo then convicted the actor to 16 years imprisonment after the offences of the actor infringe sections 135, 137, 202, 261, 262, and 263 of the Lagos State Criminal Law 2015 as these infringements amount to life imprisonment for offenders.
