Koffi Annan, former United Nations Secretary-General, has passed on at the age of 80. His death was announced in a tweet from his Twitter account @KofiAnnan.
The tweet read “It is with immense sadness that the Annan family and the Kofi Annan Foundation announce that Kofi Annan, former Secretary General of the United Nations and Nobel Peace Laureate, passed away peacefully on Saturday 18th August after a short illness.”
Kofi Annan passed on in Switzerland and his family has requested that some privacy be accorded them as they mourn the passing of their father and the Nobel Peace Prize winner. They however promised to announce arrangements for his burial later.
