Following the suspension of the Governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi by some frontline members of the Ekiti state chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State on Friday, it has been revealed that the action was in retaliation for Wednesday’s ‘indefinite suspension’ of Senator Babafemi Ojudu and others by the governor’s loyalists.
The group which calls themselves the Authentic Members of the APC alleged that the governor worked against the party’s candidate in last Saturday’s governorship election in Edo State.
The Governor has come out to dismiss the action of the group as a joke taken too far.
In a swift reaction, the APC Caretaker/Extra-Ordinary National Convention Planning Committee (CENCPC) stepped in yesterday and annulled the rash of suspensions handed out by all the parties involved in the fight.
Other members who were ‘Suspended’ along with Fayemi by the statutory members of Ekiti State Executive Committee of the APC were the party chairman Paul Omotosho and other executives.
They said the decision to ‘suspend’ the affected persons was taken after an emergency meeting of the State Executive Committee of the party, which took place in the state on Wednesday.
