Terrorist Attack – Seven Soldiers Feared Dead in Taraba

A suspected terrorist attack has left about seven soldiers dead in Taraba State. Reports say that the soldiers were killed in a forest located around Amdami in the Karim-Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State on Thursday.

The incident was confirmed by the Chairman of Karim Lamido council, Markus Hamidu, according to Daily Post. The soldiers were reportedly on patrol within the area.

Hamidu said, “Seven soldiers were killed by bandits yesterday (Thursday) around Amdami area. It is very unfortunate. May God save us.”

Attempts to reach Usman Abdullahi, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, failed as he was reported to be on Hajj to the Muslim Holy land. However, a senior officer who didn’t want to be mentioned, confirmed the attack.

Other concerned sources from the local government decried the frequency of attacks on the area noting that gunmen had taken over the forest near the council.

Meanwhile, Danjuma Shiddi who represents Wukari/Ibi Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives had on Wednesday during plenary lamented the activities of armed groups in his constituency.

According to him, several communities in Takum had been attacked by bandits, the most recent being the Tuesday attack on Tati village during which the six soldiers and a policeman were killed.
