Gunmen attack at the the Kuje Custodial Centre in Abuja yesterday caused major panic as residents feared for their lives. The suspected terrorist attack was carried out in a deliberate attempt to force entry and free some prisoners.
Reports say three bomb blasts were heard within the correctional facility with the first one occurring around 10;25pm. The bomb blasts were followed by sporadic gunshots which threw residents into distress.

Information available to the media says the Nigerian Correctional Service, NCoS had been warned earlier through an intelligence report that one of its facilities might be attacked.
At the time of filing this report, African News Today could not reach officials for comments on the incident.
