Lagos state Govt. withdraws N25m donation to Amputee Trader over false Claims

Her story induced sympathy and before long, cash began to roll in. At the last count, she was said to have raked in N25 million. The Lagos State government was also planning to gift her N25 million. Days later, however, Mary Daniel, the Oshodi amputee, has turned out a liar with huge gaps found in her story. The state government has withdrawn its donation to her. Miss Daniel became a sensation weeks ago after pictures of her selling water in sachet at Oshodi surfaced on the social media. She claimed she lost a leg in an accident that killed all other passengers, including her parents when she was a teenager.  It has now been found that she did not lose her leg in an accident and neither is her father dead. She also claimed to be fending for a baby and an aged grandmother. She said sh...

‘He’s A Different Player ‘ – Rodgers Talks Up Leicester City Hero Iheanacho

Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers has lavished praises on Kelechi Iheanacho after the forward scored a stunning winner in the Foxes’s 2-1 win against Crystal Palace on Monday night. Iheanacho set up Timothy Castagne for Leicester’s equalising goal five minutes after the interval before netting the decisive strike 10 minutes from time. The Nigeria international has now scored 14 goals in his last 14 outings across all competitions for Brendan Rodgers’ side. “It’s a great comparison, because he missed a penalty (in the reverse fixture) and his confidence wasn’t high,” Rodgers said reflecting on Iheanacho’s improvement. “A few months on, he’s a different player. “We knew the quality he has, the talent he has, and now he’s getting an opportunity. “We were playing a syste...

Keyamo blasts Eedris Abdulkareem over ‘Jagajaga Reloaded’

The Minister of State for Labour and Employment Festus Keyamo has explained that his choice of serving in the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government was an honour for him to serve his country. Keyamo stated this at the weekend when he took a swipe at popular singer and activist, Eedris Abdulkareem. Abdulkareem, in his new song, ‘jagajaga reloaded’ had disparaged Keyamo, saying “where Festus Keyamo sef? He don dey chop with cabal o.” Keyamo took to his twitter handle and released different private conversations he had with Abdulkareem and how he allegedly begged for money. He described the singer’s action as a cheap blackmail after the latter didn’t succeed in extorting him and other top government functionaries. According to Keyamo: “Eedris Abdulkareem just released a son...

Nigerian forward Kelechi Iheanacho scored five goals in three league appearances for the Foxes in the lead-up to the international break last month, including his first Premier League hat-trick against Sheffield United. Iheanacho, whose partnership with Jamie Vardy came to the fore in the absence of James Maddison and Harvey Barnes, also scored league goals in the 2-1 win at Brighton and the 1-1 draw against Burnley. "I'm so pleased and honoured to win this award. It's great to be recognised, but I couldn't have done it without the support of my team-mates and the manager," Iheanacho said. "I'm really enjoying playing at the minute and hopefully I can push on and help the team to finish as high as possible this season." Iheanacho won the award ahead of Chelsea defender Andreas ...

Ehanire said that the institution’s Senate took the decision to forestall breakdown of law and order, following the planned protest by the students’ union body against the shift in the school’s academic calendar. “The union had persistently engaged in subversive activities, including incitement of other students to disobey lawful instructions by the school authorities. “This is in spite of concerted efforts by management, led by the...

Why Onuachu was Placed on standby – Rohr

Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr during a media parley in Lagos clarified several issues in the national team, ahead of their AFCON qualifiers versus Benin and Lesotho. On the Super Eagles vs Benin Republic match, he said: Everyone wants to beat Nigeria, it is normal. We also want to win there (Porto Novo), so it’s a big challenge because they’ve not lost a match at home in eight years. You should expect a team (Eagles) that wants to play good football first, who are going to show Nigerians that they are fighting for their country and are able to do well in Porto Novo against the team who haven’t lost a game at home, since losing 3-1 to Algeria in a World Cup qualifier in 2013. It’s a huge challenge for us to go and try to win, knowing a point will earn us qualification. We’ve had a go...

God makes no Mistakes, I deserved Grammy – Burna Boy

Nigerian singer Burnaboy has disclosed that he was relieved when he was announced as the winner of the best global music album award at the Grammys. He also maintained that he deserved to win the prestigious award. In an interview with BBC Africa, he said, “I felt very relieved because I deserved it. If I did not get it, I was hoping a situation would not happen where I would not get what I deserved. In 2012, I realised that it was bigger than me and that was when it hit me that this was not a hobby anymore. Anything is possible. Whatever situation or environment one finds oneself does not really determine one’s future or what one is going to do. It also does not stop one from pursuing one’s dreams. At the end of the day, we are in an environment that is very discouraging. An environmen...
