Explosion Hits Wike Father’s Church, Police Nab Suspects

The Rivers State Command of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has nabbed three suspects for allegedly detonating explosives at a church, located at Mile 3, Diobu area of Port Harcourt. The church, Christian Universal Church International is reported to be owned by the father of Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike. The suspects numbering about five raided the church around 8 pm on Saturday, Punch reports. Local vigilante group in the area blockaded the gunmen’s escape route after noticing abnormal movements and interfered. The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar has claimed that the North ranks as the most insecure region in the country. He disclosed this at the fourth quarterly meeting of the Nigeria inter-religious Council in Abuja, themed, ‘Questioning for peace in the challenges of insecurity and COVID-19’. The Sultan noted that bandits were freely operating in the North, adding that residents were always on the edge. The Nigerian Army has said that it will reveal the identities of its personnel who were deployed in Lekki toll gate on October 20, 2020. This was disclosed by acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations and 81 Division’s spokesperson, Major Osoba Olaniyi. Scores of Children Killed as Gunmen Invade School in Cameroon

At least six children have been killed and eight injured in Cameroon on Saturday as gunmen invaded a school, shooting recklessly in an area where separatist insurgents have been on rampage. Reuters reports that the gunmen arrived the school with motorcycles around midday in the city of Kumba in South West Region. It was not uncertain if the violence was linked to an ongoing struggle between the army and secessionist groups seeking for an independent state known as Ambazonia in the English-speaking west. TVC Resumes broadcast After Being Vandalised

Following a four days hiatus due to an attack of its headquarters in Lagos by irate youths, Television Continental (TVC) has resumed broadcasting. A group of angry youths had attacked TVC’s headquarters at Ketu on Wednesday, wrecking its facilities thereby taking the station off air. The attack was part of destruction that took place after security operatives opened fire at peaceful protesters at the Lekki toll gate area on Tuesday. The reopening of TVC comes after the Nation newspaper resumed operation. The Nation’s headquarters was equally attacked by angry youths. Lagos state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu had appealed for an end to violence while urging all stakeholders to resist the urge to derail the developmental strides which had been recorded by the state.
