Father of Zamfara Speaker Alh Muazu Abubakar Magarya has been confirmed dead in the hands of his captors. In an exclusive interview with the brother of the deceased Malam Dahiru Saraki Magarya who was abducted along with the late Abubakar Magarya confirmed the development to new men at the State Police headquarters Gusau on Sunday. Bandits Shoot Zamfara Lawmaker Dead

A member of the Zamfara House of Assembly, Mohammed Ahmed, has been shot dead by bandits along Sheme- Funtua Road in Katsina State. Announcing his death, the Clerk of the Zamfara House House of Assembly,  Saidu Anka, said Ahmed was traveling to his town when he was killed by the bandits. His funeral prayers would be performed at Sheikh Ahmed Umar Kanoma Mosque by 11 o’clock on Wednesday. Until his death, the deceased was the chairman, House Committee on Finance and Appropriation.

Seven Soldiers Killed in Clash With Unknown Gunmen in Abia Community

Soldiers of 14 Brigade, Army Headquarters, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Barracks, who invaded Ohafia in the Ohafia Local Government of Abia State in search of gunmen suspected to be members of the Eastern Security Network (ESN), have burnt down several houses in the area. A source who spoke with SaharaReporters on Sunday said a lot of residents and indigenes of Elu, Amangwu, Ebem and Ohafia fled their communities to neighbouring villages due to the constant invasion. Seven soldiers have now lost their lives in the attack, the source said. According to him, some unknown gunmen were passing through the Amangwu village when soldiers from the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Barracks launched an attack. Unrest As Traders Set Vigilante Office Ablaze in Umuahia

Some angry traders at the popular Umuahia Timber Market, Abia State, yesterday set ablaze the office of the state Vigilante Service (AVGS) aka “Bakassi Boys” situated within the market. Our correspondent gathered that the traders burnt down the AVGS office after the Bakassi boys killed a trader early yesterday. The incident happened as the traders squabbled with the state Board of Internal Revenue Service (ABIRS) which sealed shops over nonpayment of N18,000 fee. Police Confirm Killing of DSS Official by Soldiers in Ekiti

The Ekiti State Police Command has confirmed the killing of an operative of the Department of State Services (DSS) by three soldiers. The Public Relations Officer of the Command, Sunday Abutu, described the killing as unfortunate and mindless. Abutu said the gory incident occurred on Friday evening at a hotel located on NTA Road in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital during an argument that ensued between some soldiers and a DSS official, leading to the death of the latter. He noted that the Command had begun investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident, adding that the deceased’s corpse had been deposited in the morgue. A divisional police station in Awka has been attacked by unknown gunmen. Eyewitnesses say an unconfirmed number of police officers were killed. The attack which lasted more than an hour had residents scampering for safety. There hasn't been an official statement by Anambra state police command.

Fiery Enugu Catholic Priest, Reverend Father Ejike Mbaka, has apologised to the Catholic church over the attack and destruction of the Enugu Catholic Diocese Bishop’s Court and Holy Ghost Cathedral in Enugu. Mbaka, who is the spiritual director of Adoration Ministries Enugu Nigeria (AMEN), rendered the apology while delivering his sermon on Sunday at Adoration Ground in Emene.
