June 12 Protests: US Issues Directive to Citizens
The United States Mission in Nigeria has asked her citizens not to get involved in the planned protests across Nigeria on June 12.
This follows the planned protest announced by various groups on June 12, designated as Democracy Day.
In an advisory to its citizens in Nigeria, the US embassy advised them to lay low and avoid the areas where the protests are scheduled to hold.

It read, “Several groups have announced their intentions to protest nationwide on June 12, Democracy Day. Police presence and response can be expected nationwide, including in Abuja where government events are scheduled to celebrate the national holiday and in Lagos where simultaneous protests are planned.
