Special Assistant to Ebonyi State Governor David Umahi on Internal Security and Public Utilities (Urban), Egwu Chidiebere has resigned his appointment with immediate effect. The development comes after Umahi formally announced his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) on Tuesday. The latest resignation is coming merely five days after the Commissioner for Inter-Governmental Affairs, Lazarus Ogbee, quit his appointment with the state government. Onyekachi Nwebonyi, chairman of the Ebonyi State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), state executive recently dissolved by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party has described the dissolution as laughable. Nwebonyi disclosed this in a statement in Abakaliki on Wednesday. He said the dissolution is unconstitutional and illegal, adding that the party’s state executive committee will head to court to challenge the decision. “It is laughable to think that the NWC would just get up and dissolve a state executive committee because the governor or a few individuals want to leave the party,” he said.
