Breach of Security Procedure and Assault on AVSEC Officer BY Head of DSS at the International Terminal of NAIA Abuja

We note with dismay that Mr Safiyanu Abba, the Head of DSS at NAIA deliberately obstructed airport Security process, and slapped an Aviation Security Officer who was performing his duty by calling on Mr Safiyanu Abba to desist from doing so. This happened on the 17th July at about 15:25 hours. He breached security procedure by obstructing further searching of a visitor who had just walked through the metal detector and activated the alarm. The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria strongly condemns this abuse of power and the Security process in our airport. This has also been duly escalated. FAAN committed to our core values of safety Security and comfort.

COVID-19: Tunisia Bars Ships of French Transport Company, Corsica Linea from Anchoring on its Ports

Tunisia has banned the ships of French transport company Corsica Linea from docking on its shores as crew test positive for COVID-19. Habib Ghedira, member of Tunisia’s committee to confront the COVID-19 was quoted by Mosaique FM radio on Saturday to have said that that the decision was taken by government to preempt spread of the disease in the North African country. This came after many crew members of a ship belonging to Corsica Linea company, which operated the Marseille-Tunis route from July 1 to July 10, tested positive for COVID-19. In addition, on July 14, another vessel of the same company that docked in the port of La Goulette in Tunis had eight people who tested positive for COVID-19. President Buhari Names Agbor Railways Complex after Former President Jonathan

The Railway complex in Agbo, Delta Sate has been named after former President of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan. It was confirmed by Tolu Ogunlesi, Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on New Media on Twitter on Saturday, 18 June. Ogunlesi said, “BREAKING: President @MBuhari has approved the naming of the Railway Complex in Agbor - the operational hub of #ItakpeWarriRail Line - after former President @GEJonathan. Flight Resumption in Nigeria; FAAN Issues Post COVID-19 Guidelines for Flight Operation

The Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has released new guidelines for travelers as the country plans to safely reopen its airspace and airports to local flights without risking the health of travelers. Henrietta Yakubu, FAAN’s General Manager, Corporate Affairs in a report said, “the new Standard Operating Procedure is aimed at protecting all stakeholders and preventing further spread of the Covad-19 virus.” Yakubu said that of the guidelines stipulates that every passenger must mandatorily wear face masks and maintain a physical distancing of not less than 1.5m. The authority stated that all passengers would be screened by trained aviation and Port health personnel to ensure strict compliance with the use of face masks and physical distancing. The federal government of Nigeria has announced a July 8 resumption date for domestic flights in the country as it implements a further relaxation of the COVID-19 induced lockdown. The resumption of local flights comes at a time when the West African nation is experiencing daily spike in the number of confirmed cases of the virus. Authorities say airport in the capital city of Abuja and Lagos are scheduled to resume on July 8, Kano, Port Harcourt, Owerri and Maiduguri will restart on July 11 while others will start on July 15. The Lagos State Government, through the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Ministry of Justice on Friday arraigned the Dangote cement truck driver who was involved in the road accident that led to the death of four persons in Ikorodu. The Lagos State Government on Monday commenced the enforcement of the ban on Okada and Tricycle operations within the Lagos Central Business District in accordance with Section 3 of the Lagos Road Traffic Law, 2012. The Special Adviser to the Governor on CBD, Prince Anofiu Olarenwaju Elegushi disclosed this while monitoring enforcement of the ban within the Lagos Island Business District.
