Nigerian Military Imposes Curfew As ISWAP Terrorists Again Attack Borno Community

The Nigerian military has imposed a curfew in Askira Uba and its environs in Borno State as troops repelled another attack in the axis. According to PRNigeria, ISWAP fighters on Monday launched an attack on Dille which was swiftly repelled by the combined efforts of Air Taskforce and ground troops. Dille is a village in Lassa under Askira Uba Local Government Area of Borno State. The Nigerian Army has raised the alarm that the Islamic West Africa Province and Boko Haram terrorists are purchasing Improvised Explosive Devices. It said the terrorists were planning to unleash terror on innocent Nigerians to remain relevant after the sects must have been decimated. It disclosed this in a statement by the Director of Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, on Thursday. The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project, SERAP, has issued an open letter to President Muhammadu Buhari asking him to use his office “to urgently instruct Lai Mohammed, Minister of Information and Culture, and the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) to withdraw the directive containing a gag order banning journalists and broadcast stations from reporting details of terrorist attacks and victims across the country.” Recall that NBC had in a letter dated July 7, 2021 ordered journalists, television, and radio stations in Nigeria to stop “glamourizing and giving too many details on the nefarious activities of terrorists and kidnappers” during their daily newspaper reviews.
