Nigerian Govt Mulls Creation Of New Ministry Of Defence 

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, Ibrahim Kana, has said the federal government had concluded plans to create a brand new Ministry of Defence, with a view to repositioning the sector. Mr Kana gave the hint when he paid a familiarisation visit to the Army Headquarters on Wednesday, in Abuja. He said his appointment by President Muhammadu Buhari came with a mandate to implement the approved reform of the ministry and armed forces, to enhance efficiency. Buhari Reacts As Terrorists Kill Over 100 In Plateau

Gunmen President Muhammadu Buhari has reacted to the killing of over 100 residents of Plateau State by a terrorist group, describing the incident as heinous. Reports earlier emerged that gunmen killed at least 142 persons in fresh attacks on communities in Wase and Kanam Local Government Areas of the state. The incident occurred on Sunday in Kukawa, Gyambawu, Dungur, Kyaram, Yelwa, Dadda, Wanka, Shuwaka, Gwammadaji, and Dadin Kowa communities in the local government. 12 Soldiers Killed as Jihadists Attack a Military Base in Burkina Faso

Suspected jihadists have attacked a military base in Burkina Faso, killing at least 12 soldiers and four volunteers in the process. The military on Friday said 21 troops were also injured in the attack on the Namissiguima military detachment in the north. The assailants are reported to have first attacked the camp with shells. Then shooting followed. The military added that reinforcements have been deployed to secure the area. The attack comes at a time when the armed forces have launched an operation to "de-pollute" localities in the region. Gun men Kidnapped Managing Director of the Bank of Agriculture, Alwan Ali-Hassan, was released in the spirit of Ramadan, his captors have said. Following a ruling of the Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday declaring bandits as terrorists, the Nigerian Air Force is set to deploy Super Tucano aircraft in the North-West and North-Central regions of the country, especially in Niger, Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara states.
