Messi and the Argentine team were stunned by a 3:0 loss to Croatia. After the first half ended goal-less, a horrible error by the Argentine goalkeeper in the 53rd saw the ball landing to Rebic who shot the ball right into the net for Croatia's first goal. Things got worse for Arengtina when Moderic fired in a lovely shot from outside the 18-yard box, beating the goalkeeper. With Argentina trying to find a way back, they threw men forward which allowed Croatia score a third via a counter-attack in the first minute of additional time. The Egyptians playing with their star player, Salah were defeated 3:1 by hosts Russia. The first half of the encounter ended goal-less but things changed when in the 47th minute, The Egyptians conceded an own goal, opening the flood gate of goals. Senegal defeated Poland by 2:1 to give Africa its first win in the on-going 2018 FIFA World Cup. Senegal's first goal was put down as an own goal after a Polish defender deflected a Senegalese shot into his own net. In the 60th minute, Niang, coming back into the pitch having gone out following an injury, latched unto a defensive error to give Senegal her second goal. World Cup: Tunisia Loses 2:1 to England

England edged past Tunisia with a 2:1 score line. The match which was looking like it was going to be Africa's first result at the on-going World Cup ended up in another loss for an African team. Harry Kane had opened score for the English in the 11th minute, pouncing on a parry by the goalkeeper to tap in the first goal. Tunisia responded through Ferjani Sassi in the 35th minute via a penalty. This was the first goal by any African team so far at the on-going World Cup. Sweden managed a 1:0 win over Korea Republic in a match that went without a goal until the 65th minute. The goal came courtesy of a penalty that was nicely converted by the Swedish Captain, Andreas Granqvist.
