Gunmen Abduct Two Policemen, Attack Lawmaker In Ebonyi

The lawmaker, representing Ohaukwu North constituency in the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Chinedu Awo, has been attacked by gunmen on his way to his hometown Effium Community in the Ohaukwu Local Government Area of the state. The Ebonyi State Police Command’s spokesman, DSP Loveth Odah, told journalists in Abakaliki on Monday that two police personnel were also abducted during the attack. The policemen were in the company of the lawmaker, when they were abducted on Sunday. Kogi State Commissioner for Environment, Chief Victor Adewale Omofaiye on Sunday escaped Kidnap attempt between Oke-Ijumu and Iyara in Ijumu Local Government Area. The incident according to an eyewitness who pleaded anonymity occurred at about 5 pm while on his way from his hometown, Ekinrin Adde where he attended some ceremonies. Army Will Engage In War Against Bandits – Farouk Yahaya

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Farouk Yahaya, has declared that henceforth, the Nigerian Army will engage bandits and criminals in a war.
