BREAKING: Kaduna Orders Immediate Closure Of Schools Over Attacks

The Kaduna State Government has ordered the immediate closure of all public and private schools in the Kajuru Local Government Area of the state. According to a memo signed by the zonal education office, Sabon Tasha, all schools should close due to the prevailing security situation in the area. The memo, dated March 16, was addressed to all principals of public and private schools. Gunmen had on March 11 stormed the Federal College of Forestry Mechanisation in Mando, Kaduna state, kidnapping 39 students. The Kaduna college was said to have about 300 male and female students, mostly aged 17 and older at the time of the attack. The Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres, has expressed sadness over the recent mass abduction of students in different parts of Nigeria. Gunmen had abducted over 300 people including students and staff of the Federal College of Forestry Mechanisation, Afaka, Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State on Friday. Bandits have released the students and staff of Government Science College Kagara, in Niger State who were kidnapped Wednesday, February 17, 2021. Their release was confirmed by a top security source involved in the counter-kidnapping operation in the State who spoke to Punch. Recall that the students were abducted by the bandits who disguised in military uniforms from their hostels over a week ago.
