If Not Infrastructure, Then What? By Femi Adesina

Former Governor of Anambra State and running mate to Atiku Abubakar in the 2019 presidential election, Mr Peter Obi, flew into the eye of the storm some days ago, when he said on the breakfast show of a television station that the Nigerian economy couldn’t be driven on infrastructure development. Mr Obi, my friend of many years, and member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) simply carried opposition politics too far, and got himself into a jumble. What did he spend eight years doing as Governor of Anambra State? Building and developing infrastructure to boost the economy of the state. If not infrastructure, then what? Why then did he say this? “You can’t use infrastructure to drive economic growth. You invest in education and the SME (Small, Medium Enterprises) sector instead to dea...

See How They’re Being Sent To God To Answer For Their Crimes By Femi Adesina

It amazes, even confounds, to hear some people say President Muhammadu Buhari should go after Boko Haram terrorists and bandits with the same gusto he has displayed against separatists in the country. Amazing and confounding because what the Buhari government does daily in the North-east, North-west, and North-central parts of the country, where terrorists and bandits abound, is send them to God to answer for their crimes. This much has been confirmed by the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Faruk Yahaya. Hear the Army Chief, on the day he was decorated with his new rank: “That’s what we have started doing already. Many of them have been sent to God to answer for their crimes, and we will continue to do that.” President Buhari had ordered the security forces to crush all violent crim...

Buhari Cracks Stubborn Projects, Its’s Just Beginning By Femi Adesina

How did you feel watching Works and Housing Minister, Babatunde Raji Fashola, SAN, inspecting the just completed multi-million dollars bridge at Ikom, Cross River State, early this week? Any person of goodwill, not overtaken by bile and ill will, would feel proud to be a Nigerian. Such people would be proud of not just the dynamic Minister, but also of his principal, President Muhammadu Buhari. Yes, President Buhari is doing great things in the area of infrastructure in the country. Roads, bridges, rail, airports, and the half has never yet been told. The new Ikom bridge replaces the old steel truss bridge built 50 years ago, in 1971. Located at Eko-Mfum, in Etung Local Government Area of Cross River State, construction began in April 2017, and the project was completed in March, thi...

The Minister of Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, made this known yesterday when he inspected the bridge and the approach road in Etung Local Government. Some Prophets See Nothing – Femi Adesina

There he goes again. Troublemaker. He wants to abuse our prophets, the vessels of God Almighty. Not so. Let me state from the beginning that I believe in prophecies and prophets. Good, sincere, genuine ones. “Believe in the Lord your God, so shall you be established. Believe His prophets, so shall you prosper,” says the Good Book in 2 Chronicles 20:20. But when prophets play to the gallery, claim God has said, when God has said nothing, then they expose themselves to ridicule. From such, run away. Show clean pairs of heels. On Sunday, July 11, the final match of Euro 2020 was played between England and Italy at Wembley Stadium in London. The English team had a lot to play for. Since they last won the World Cup in 1966, also on home soil, they had won nothing again. Not even 5-a-Side ...

FG Helpless on Insecurity, Kukah Tells US

The Bishop of Sokoto Catholic Diocese, Mathew Kukah, has claimed that the President Muhammadu Buhari administration is helpless in surmounting the insecurity challenges bedevilling Nigeria. The clergy made this known during his address to the United States Congress Commission, noting that the Buhari administration has failed to tackle insecurity which it hinged its campaign on prior to the 2015 general election. Kukah indicted Buhari for appointing more people of his ethnicity and religion into political office. His virtual presentation to the Tom Lantos Human Rights Commission in Washington, DC, US, focused on the persecution of Christians in the North by armed extremist groups. He alleged that there was a religious undertone to the security challenges in the country. Kukah...

Speaking To PDP In Language It Understands By Femi Adesina

There’s this recent cartoon in Daily Trust Newspaper that sends me holding my sides in laughter each time I see it. And I tell you that I’ve viewed it over and over again. Two bandits are in flight, really showing a clean pair of heels. This news item kicks you into the cartoon: ‘Scores killed as troops, vigilantes, ambush Kebbi students’ kidnappers.’ The first fleeing bandit says; ‘I think this is the language the President is speaking about!’ And the second bandit responds: ‘I think these are just the Alphabets.’ Hahahahahaaaaaaa. I can’t stop laughing again and again at that cartoon. Lol. President Muhammadu Buhari don vex. Troublers of Nigeria are in trouble, and are being given bloody noses: insurgents, bandits, secessionists, all violent criminals. After his decoration with ...
