A former National Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Lai Olurode, says he almost lost his life for refusing to allow underage voters to vote some years ago. He, therefore, called on the Federal Government to ensure that registration officers, who are mostly members of the National Youth Service Corps, were protected at all times. There was palpable tension in Ipao-Ekiti, Ikole Local Government Area of Ekiti State on Sunday, as suspected herdsmen identified as Bororos allegedly killed a father of two, Olayemi Tunde, 32. Olayemi was reportedly killed yesterday afternoon while returning from his farm. Vanguard gathered that Olayemi, a commercial motorbike driver who also has a farm in the farm settlement in the Community had gone to his farm to harvest some cassava when he met his death.
