The governor of Benue state, Samuel Ortom, has again called on the federal government to act fast in its bid to find lasting solution over herdsmen attack in the country, especially Benue. The governor equally threatened the federal government with the forthcoming 2019 election, noting that he has already stopped anything that has to do with politics till federal government stops herdsmen from killing his people. A former National Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Lai Olurode, says he almost lost his life for refusing to allow underage voters to vote some years ago. He, therefore, called on the Federal Government to ensure that registration officers, who are mostly members of the National Youth Service Corps, were protected at all times. Olurode was the INEC National Commissioner for the South-West from 2010 to 2015. The Independent National Electoral Commission says some underage voters are being registered in some parts of the country because the lives of registration officers are being threatened by some members of the community. There was palpable tension in Ipao-Ekiti, Ikole Local Government Area of Ekiti State on Sunday, as suspected herdsmen identified as Bororos allegedly killed a father of two, Olayemi Tunde, 32. Olayemi was reportedly killed yesterday afternoon while returning from his farm.
