Court Stops DSS From Arresting CBN Governor

An Abuja federal high court has turned down an application by the Department of State Services, DSS, seeking to arrest and detain the Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, Godwin Emefiele. The chief judge, Justice JT Tsoho, while declining the motion ex parte – filed in the absence of the respondent, said that the secret police lacked concrete evidence to prove its claims that Emefiele was involved in terrorism financing and economic crimes. The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has accused the Federal Government of denying its leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu access to food and medications despite being sick. The group urged the whole world to speak out against the ill-treatment meted out to Mazi Kanu by the DSS in Abuja. IGP Names Those Behind Attacks on INEC Offices

Usman Baba, the Inspector-General of Police, has indicted politicians and other popular dignitaries of masterminding the recent attacks on the officers of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in different parts of Nigeria. Baba who was represented by Dandaura Mustapha, the Deputy Inspector-General, Department of Operations, disclosed this on Friday when he appeared before the House of Representatives ad hoc committee investigating attacks on INEC assets across the country. Demola Seriki, Nigeria’s ambassador to Spain has passed on at the age of 63. Seriki, a Lagos State politician reportedly died in Madrid, Spain.
